Website Revamp

How quickly a week can change things. Last week I announced that I had changed the look of my blog and that it was pretty much going to stay that way for a while as I didn’t have the time to create my own theme.

Well things have changed.

After receiving my first two copies of The Manual, I realised how much I love books. Proper, normal books (not that I’m saying that The Manual is normal, it’s not, it’s exceptional) with nice typography. This lead me to decide that I want my site to attempt to mimic the look and, if at all possible, the feel of a paper book.

I like the simplicity and minimalism of a book, with no sidebars, Twitter feeds etc. getting in your way and distracting you from the content. Naturally for my blog this means that a custom WordPress theme needs to be built, and so it must. This will take some time so this blog will stay as is for now.

But I have taken the time to apply such a design to my website, iandevlin.com, which is now live. You can read more about the site itself at the colophon.

It’s probably worth noting that this is a work in progress and changes will probably be made as I tinker over time with the look. Also any feedback that you might have would influence this, so please do feel free to comment on it and let me know what you think.
