I am an Irish web and app developer who resides near Düsseldorf in Germany where I currently work as a frontend engineer for trivago.

I like to spend my time playing about with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Sass, Grunt, and PHP. I am passionate about web standards, semantic HTML, web accessibility, and I was an early adopter of HTML5, I have even had a HTML5 book published on HTML5 Multimedia: Develop and Design (Peachpit ).

I am also one of the HTML5 Doctors and I have also curated at HTML5 Gallery.

In I became one of the founding contributor to Intel's HTML5 Hub.

There are a number of small ongoing projects that I maintain such as HTML5 Bones and ARIA Bones.

I write regularly both on this site and at various other places on the web, mainly on web development topics but also on other subjects that interest me such as history and nature. I also tweet as @iandevlin.

I have a BSc Honours Degree (NFQ Level 8, ISCED Level 5) in Computer Systems from the University of Limerick, Ireland.
